Foster homes
Every hound’s first stop — a volunteer living room where they learn stairs, couches, and calm.
A volunteer-run greyhound retirement and rescue in Goshen, Indiana, placing retired racers and sighthounds into loving homes since 2016.
Greyt Angels Greyhound Adoption began in Goshen, Indiana, with a group of volunteers dedicated to the breed we love. In November 2015 the IRS granted our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and we have been finding hounds their homes ever since.
From the start the model has been simple: every hound moves into a volunteer foster home first, where they can comfortably adjust and learn what life as a pet looks like before they meet their forever family.
Ten years later we are still based in Goshen and still run entirely by volunteers, and the job hasn’t changed: find the dog a couch, and the couch a dog.
We rehome retired greyhounds from the racing industry, and we open our doors to sighthounds from other backgrounds too — including dogs from shelters and other rescues — so they can start over somewhere soft.
Every hound lives in a volunteer foster home first — within two to three hours of Goshen — learning stairs, couches, cats, and calm. We never ship dogs; when a hound is ready, we match them with a family that suits the dog they actually are.
You’ll find us out in the community, too: monthly meet and greets at a mutual meeting location, plus parades and festivals with our greyhound ambassadors. The hounds enjoy the outings as much as we do.
Greyt Angels is a network of volunteers — foster homes, drivers, event helpers, and friends of the breed — who make every adoption happen. Nobody draws a salary; everyone is here for the hounds.
