Accessibility
Every family deserves to meet these hounds — including families who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, or bigger text.
Our commitment
Built for everyone the hounds would love
Greyt Angels wants this site to work for every person, on every device, with whatever assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA across the whole site.
We’re an all-volunteer rescue, not a big company — but accessibility isn’t an extra here. It was part of how this site was designed from the first sketch.
What’s in place
How this site has your back
- Keyboard and screen readers
- Every page is built on semantic HTML with a “Skip to content” link, labeled landmarks, and one clear heading order. Everything you can do with a mouse you can do with a keyboard, and the focused element always shows a visible outline.
- Photos have words
- Every hound photo carries a written description of the dog — coat, collar, setting — so a screen reader paints the same picture. Decorative flourishes are hidden from assistive tech.
- Motion respects your settings
- If your device asks for reduced motion, we listen: scroll animations and counting numbers are stilled, and the homepage video is replaced with a photo.
- Forms you can actually fill in
- Inputs have visible labels, required fields say so, and error messages explain what to fix in plain words.
- Room to tap
- Buttons and links are sized for real fingers — at least 44 pixels of target — and the site works at any zoom level or text size.
Known limitations
Where we fall short today
- Our adoption application is a Google Form
- The application lives on Google’s servers and we can’t change how it’s built. If the form gives you trouble, call or email us instead — we’ll take your application another way, no questions asked.
- Some links leave this site
- Stories and posts link to our blog archive, Petfinder, and Facebook. Those pages are run by others and may not meet the same standard.
- We’re a work in progress
- This site is maintained by volunteers. When we find something that falls short — or you do — we fix it as fast as we’re able.

Hit a wall? We’ll open a door.
If any part of this site is hard to use — or you just want the same information in a different form — tell us. A person reads every message, and we’ll get you what you need another way while we fix the underlying problem.
